2005 Odyssey Leather Shift Knob Mod Available from College Hills Honda Parts Part# 54130-SHJ-A62
Upgrade your Odyssey to the Leather Shift Knob that is standard equipment on Touring models.
Before beginning, make sure the vehicle is shut off and apply the emergency brake. For ease of installation adjust the steering wheel to the highest upward position and pull the shift lever down to D1. You will need to have the ignition turned on and your foot on the brake to release the shift lever. If you are familiar with the shift release button you may use that technique as an alternative. The procedure below was done with an existing leather shift knob in a Touring model for demonstration purposes. Click on the thumbnails below for larger pictures.
Step 1 With a small screwdriver gently pry off the left switch cover. Be careful not to damage the cover.
Step 2 Remove the lower screw located below the D3 switch. The D3 button can be removed before performing this step.
Step 3 Gently remove the D3 switch by prying on the upper and lower retaining clips.
Step 4 Remove the upper shifter knob screw.
Step 5 Remove the shift select button and spring, then gently pry and then slide the remaining cover off the existing shift knob. When sliding out the old shift knob guide the D3 switch through the bottom of the cover.
Step 6 Take the shift knob cover and slide it over the D3 switch.
Step 7 Take your new leather shift knob and slide it into position. Make sure not to pinch the wires for the D3 switch and click the new shift knob into the cover. The wiring for the D3 switch should be on the left side of the cover.
Step 8 Insert the shift selector spring.
Step 9 Insert the shift selector button first then slide the assembly in place.
Step 10 Replace both screws and tighten only until snug.
Step 11 Snap the D3 switch back into place. We recommend getting the bottom in place first then clip the top in.
Step 12 Snap the D3 button back into place.
Step 13 Replace the remaining cover and you are done!
