PAX System Q&A
How does the basic PAX Tire System work?
The PAX system was introduced back in 1997. The wheel contains a flexible support ring and low-profile tire that works with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This system continuously monitors the pressure in all four tires and alerts the driver before pressure loss in any tire becomes critically low. When in normal operation, PAX® tires improve road handling and reduce rolling resistance by up to 12 percent with no trade-off in tire performance while at the same time increasing your fuel economy.
How far can I drive on a flat PAX tire?
PAX tires are rated at 55mph for 125 miles.
If I get a flat, how do I go about getting it fixed?
Michelin has set up a Customer Assistance line (877-PAX-TIRE) to aid you in finding an Authorized PAX service location. The Customer Assistance line will also assist you if you are further than 125 miles from any Honda or Michelin dealership.
How is my PAX tire repaired?
Normally your local Michelin tire dealer or PAX equipped Honda dealer will make the necessary repairs to get you back on your way. If you should experience a flat tire and there isn’t a local Michelin tire dealer that can service the PAX System tire/wheel assembly, your local dealer will replace the entire tire/wheel assembly.
Why does my Touring model Odyssey not have a spare?
The PAX System allows you to drive to a safe location or to a repair facility in the event of a flat tire. The 125 miles limit should provide enough distance without the need for a spare tire. Even though it is not needed, if you feel you still need a spare tire, there is a location for it behind the left rear trim panel. The spare tire for the non-Touring model will fit in this location.
Can I install PAX tires on my non-Touring Odyssey?
The PAX System requires a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to alert the driver of a run flat condition. The Touring model is the only Odyssey with this system. Because of this and other suspension differences, the PAX system cannot be outfitted to other Odyssey models.
Does Michelin have a winter tire available?
At this time winter applications are being reviewed for a possible future release.
